Information on Programs Offered:Our Medical Office Administration program prepares you to work in the front office of a medical clinic or hospital. Hands-on training includes office management, patient record keeping, bookkeeping and accounting and professional communication. San Joaquin Valley College's Aircraft Mechanic program prepares you with the skills and technical knowledge to perform aircraft, airframe and powerplant overhaul. Our Aircraft Mechanic program focuses on preparing you for certification as an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic. Our Business Administration program prepares you with an understanding of the office procedures and daily skills needed to work in a modern business setting. These skills include professional writing, accounting and finance, as well as many up-to-date computer applications. Our Clinical and Administrative Medical Assisting program prepares you in the use of administrative and clinical medical procedures in a medical office or specialty clinic setting. Training includes insurance billing, appointment scheduling, CPR/first aid and venipuncture. Hands-on instruction is offered in a clinical externship. Hands-on training includes medical terminology, medical office management, venipuncture and performing basic lab tests. Our Computer Support Technology program prepares you for certification in ten areas of computer knowledge and proficiency. Hands-on training includes basic computer repair, networking design, help desk concepts and procedures, as well as the use of Microsoft applications. As an approved test site, course enrollment covers the cost of first round certification testing. SJVC's Construction Management program prepares you for the management responsibilities you'll face in the residential and commercial construction industry. You'll learn career skills such as architectural design theory, methods of field supervision and construction communication procedures. You will also receive a personal laptop computer to help with coursework that is yours to keep. SJVC’s Corrections program stretches beyond the minimum training required by law with an in depth combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience. Coursework includes criminal law, evidence collection and preservation, report writing and criminal procedures. Our Dental Assisting program prepares you to work under the supervision of a dentist. Hands-on training includes patient care, office administration and laboratory duties, dental anatomy, radiology, preventive dentistry and related software applications. Our Emergency Services and Safety Management program will introduce you to the world of security as well as individual and property protection services. The classroom instruction includes Cal/OSHA compliance, injury prevention, emergency medical training, criminal law and risk management. Our Health Care Administration program prepares you for a front-office role in a health care facility. You will learn office management, medical terminology, patient record keeping, bookkeeping, insurance claim procedures and the use of Microsoft Office and Medical Manager. Additional hands-on training is offered during an externship in a health care setting. Our Health Care Insurance Specialist program prepares you with a detailed understanding of insurance processing and coding, as well as patient record keeping, office management, medical terminology and ICD-9 CM and CPT coding. Hands-on instruction is offered during an externship in a health care setting. Our Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology program prepares you for a year-round HVAC career. Classroom instruction and skills training include maintenance and repair of residential and commercial heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, heating and cooling principles, basic theories of electricity and hazardous waste disposal. Our Human Resource Administration program prepares you with a working knowledge of the procedures, policies and practices used in today's human resource departments. Hands-on training includes personnel hiring and evaluation, staff training, employee benefits, payroll management, labor laws and related computer applications. Our Industrial Technology program offers hands-on training, including electrical theory, motor control, programmable logic controllers, hydraulic systems, bearing and seal applications and power transmission systems. Graduates earn a Certificate in Industrial Technology. Our Pharmacy Technology program prepares you to become part of a team, handling prescription orders under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. Topics covered include pharmacology, prescription processing and computer data entry, as well as hands-on training during an externship in a pharmacy environment. Our Respiratory Therapy program prepares you to become a valued member of an elite health care team that evaluates, treats, manages and educates patients with respiratory illnesses and other cardiopulmonary disorders. To gain real-world experience, students receive 900 hours of extensive clinical practice in a hospital setting. Our Surgical Technology program prepares you to become a key member of a medical team in an operating room. Classroom instruction includes surgical procedures and techniques, CPR/first aid and medical terminology. Hands-on training includes an extensive clinical rotation working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and registered nurses in the surgical environment. San Joaquin Valley College has developed an exciting new A.S. Degree program offering hands-on training and education for a rewarding career in Therapeutic Massage. Graduates are prepared to practice massage therapy in a variety of professional environments such as medical offices, private practices, spas and salons, or sports clinics. The program covers massage and bodywork therapy techniques, as well as massage therapy business practices and customer/client relations.Our Veterinary Technology program prepares you to work in animal patient care. Hands-on training includes surgical assisting, lab procedures, diagnostic imaging and pharmacology.
