Beginning with an introduction to computer applications and the fundamentals of drawing and graphic design, students progress quickly to acquire advanced skills in the design and production of print materials and Web pages. The fast-paced, in-depth curriculum prepares students for careers in computer programming and database applications -- in less than nine months! You will develop marketable skills in object-oriented programming, database design, Web programming, systems analysis and design, e-commerce and more. The incredibly frequent and rapid changes in today's business and technology require people who can think and express themselves clearly. The general education component of the degree program is designed to develop those skills and an awareness of the individual's responsibility in society. Technical skills must be balanced with human skills if one is to be an effective participant in the Information Age. Modern management control is dependent upon an organization's effective use of computer systems. Based on this premise, the emphasis in the Computer Information Systems major is on business applications of the computer. However, many graduates have applied the skills learned in the program to the scientific and research fields. The curriculum provides the student with in-depth expertise in the most popular computer languages, knowledge of accounting techniques, systems analysis and design, as well as operations management of a computer installation. Coleman College Computer Network program prepares students to be qualified computer network specialists in about eight months. With an emphasis on hardware and networks, you will learn how to set up, diagnose and repair PC workstations, and to install, maintain and administrate local area networks. Our computer networks graduates get great jobs in a variety of IT positions, from network administration to field service support. Offered at the La Mesa campus. This program is designed to provide the graduate with the educational foundation for management positions in the computer network technology field. The graduate is prepared for leadership responsibilities in the planning, evaluation and supervision of computer service activities. The curriculum includes a sound knowledge of technical skills, concepts of management and human relations, and a study of mathematics and physical sciences. The Bachelor's degree program in Computer Networks is not intended to be preparation for graduate work in engineering or science. The Network Security program is designed to prepare students for careers in computer and network security and to deal with the challenging computer and network security problems facing society. The graduate will have a basic understanding of computer hardware, software, programming concepts and network administration with a primary emphasis on network security.
